JOURNAL APPLICATION


Required Documents

Within the scope of a new journal application, the documents listed below must be fully prepared and included in the application file:

1. New Journal Application Form

The form containing information about the journal’s title, aim, scope, publication language, publication frequency, target audience, etc., must be completed in full.

2. Decision of the Executive Board

A positive decision of the relevant unit’s Executive Board regarding the establishment of the new journal must be included in the application file.

3. Journal Publication Principles and Policy

Documentation outlining the journal’s scientific publishing approach and fundamental principles governing the publication process, including:

  • The journal’s aim and scope
  • Open access policy
  • Copyright and licensing principles
  • Peer-review model and editorial process principles
  • Publication ethics and plagiarism policy

4. Editorial Information

  • Information on the Editor-in-Chief and Associate/Assistant Editors
  • Information on the Editorial Board and Advisory Board members
  • For all board members: country, city, institution, field of expertise, institutional email address, and ORCID ID

5. Description of the Peer-Review and Evaluation Process

A detailed explanation of the peer-review model to be applied (e.g., double-blind peer review), the evaluation process, and decision-making mechanisms.

6. Ethical Principles and Publication Ethics Statement

A publication ethics policy prepared in accordance with the principles of COPE (Committee on Publication Ethics).

Application Criteria

The following fundamental criteria are taken into consideration in the evaluation of new journal applications:

  • The scientific quality and academic contribution potential of the journal
  • Clear and sustainable definition of scope and target audience
  • Competence and adequacy of the editorial board in the relevant field
  • Transparency, impartiality, and compliance with ethical standards in the peer-review and evaluation process
  • Realistic and sustainable publication frequency and planning
  • Compliance of open access and publication policies with international standards
  • The journal’s long-term potential for indexing and academic visibility

Evaluation Process

The application file is evaluated by the Presidency of the Publication Commission. Applications deemed appropriate are submitted to the University Executive Board for approval.

Publication Process

Following the approval of the University Executive Board, the journal is registered in the Journal Management System used by the University and the publication process is initiated.

After the publication of at least five articles, an application is submitted to the ISSN Türkiye Center affiliated with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in order to obtain an ISSN.
