BOOK DEVELOPMENT

The Book Development Unit operating under Marmara University Press coordinates all processes from the application stage to the publication of books in print or electronic formats as publications of the University, in accordance with national and international academic publishing standards. During this process, the scientific quality of books, content consistency, academic contribution, and formal integrity are adopted as the main evaluation criteria.

Applications for book publication are submitted to the Publication Commission, where the evaluation process is initiated. During the publication process, the suitability of books for publication, editorial evaluation and peer-review procedures, copyright and licensing processes, and compliance with ethical principles are meticulously monitored. Submitted publications are evaluated based on a double-blind peer-review system; with the aim of improving the academic quality of the publications, necessary revisions are made in line with peer-review reports. Editorial and peer-review processes are monitored by Marmara University Press and carried out in coordination with the decision-making processes of the Chair of the Publication Commission.

In addition to works by members of the University, Marmara University Press also publishes books by authors and researchers from other institutions whose scholarly quality is deemed appropriate. Subject to the authors’ approval, published books are made available to readers as open-access publications on the Press’s website. Furthermore, efforts are undertaken to increase the visibility of these books on national and international academic platforms.

Applications for book publication are received through the “Publication Application Form” available on the Press’s website. Works to be submitted must be prepared in accordance with the current “Publication Writing Guidelines” announced on the website. Application and evaluation processes are carried out within the framework of the established procedures and principles.
