HISTORY
Marmara University Press began its publishing activities in 1984 and formally entered the field of academic publishing the same year with the release of its first printed book under the name Marmara University Publications. Since its establishment, the Press has embraced the fundamental mission of documenting, disseminating, and preserving the University’s scientific knowledge for future generations.
In 2008, the coordination of the University’s academic publishing activities was transferred to the Library and Documentation Department, marking an important step toward a more professional, systematic, and sustainable publishing structure.
In 2012, the Publishing House Directorate was established within the Library and Documentation Department. With this development, Marmara University Publications gained a distinct institutional identity and entered a significant phase of its branding process. Operating under the Presidency of the University Publication Commission, the Directorate conducts academic book and journal publishing activities and continues its work with a quality-oriented approach based on continuous improvement.
To date, Marmara University Press has published approximately 500 academic books and currently publishes 26 scientific journals across various disciplines, thereby enhancing the national and international visibility of the University’s academic output.
