The ETT 2018: 8th International Istanbul Textile Conference – Evolution of Technical Textiles was held at the TÜYAP Fair and Exhibition Center in Istanbul from April 14–16, 2018. With the theme “Recent Advances in Innovation and Enterprise in Technical Textiles and Clothing,” the conference aimed to share the latest developments in the textile and apparel industries while exploring the expanding role of textiles in applied materials science. Bringing together researchers, industry experts, and practitioners from around the world, the event featured studies across nine main themes: medical textiles, technical textiles, smart and interactive textiles, surface coatings, apparel design, ecological textiles, composite materials, textile innovations, and computer technologies for textiles and apparel. The conference sought to foster international collaboration and exchange of knowledge, and selected papers were published in a special issue of the Journal of Marmara University Institute of Pure and Applied Sciences.

ETT 2018: 8th International Istanbul Textile Conference – Evolution of Technical Textiles başlıklı konferans, tekstil ve hazır giyim sektöründeki yenilikleri ve teknik tekstillerdeki son gelişmeleri paylaşmak amacıyla 14–16 Nisan 2018 tarihlerinde İstanbul Tüyap Fuar ve Kongre Merkezi’nde düzenlenmiştir. “Teknik Tekstiller ve Giyimde Yenilik ve Girişimcilikte Güncel Gelişmeler” temasıyla gerçekleştirilen konferans, disiplinlerarası bir yaklaşımla tekstilin uygulamalı malzeme bilimindeki rolünü ve potansiyel gelişim alanlarını ele almıştır. Etkinlik; tıp, ekoloji, giyim tasarımı, akıllı tekstiller, kompozit malzemeler ve bilgisayar teknolojileri gibi dokuz ana tema altında güncel araştırmaları bir araya getirmiştir. Konferans, akademi ve endüstri temsilcilerini buluşturarak uluslararası işbirliğini teşvik etmeyi amaçlamış, seçilen bildiriler Marmara Üniversitesi Fen Bilimleri Enstitüsü Dergisi’nin özel sayısında yayımlanmak üzere değerlendirilmiştir.
